Tips on Creating Marketing Strategies Like a Pro.

Updated: Aug 29

Look at every business. Be it a large multi-national or a small startup. All of them have one thing in common – marketing. Marketing strategies play a do or die role in every business and industry.

The product or service needs to reach out to your consumers. It is your consumers that decide whether your business will strive or not in the competitive industry.

Let us look at some tools that would help you come up with effective marketing strategies for your company.

SOCIAL MEDIA. Yes, I know it’s a cliché opening but the world is beaming with posts online and it is a MUST to be able to portray your companies in the right spotlights. Businesses have flourished and grown immensely through social media sites such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and so on.

Your first impression is the last. So let us work on creating an impact on your audience.

That leads us to the second tool and aspect. You won't go around selling a fish tank to a person who owns a cat. Pretty stupid right? I’m guessing you all understood the analogy here. It is important to identify your TARGET AUDIENCE.

You have to have the eyes to see the “chosen ones”. Focus on your target group and identify things that would appeal to them. For instance, if you own a clothing line and your target audience consists of groups of people that are highly inclined towards fashion, come up with things and concepts that would appeal to them; perhaps blogs or articles about the latest fashion trends, or in these times, COVID-19 fashion trends - “Protective wear along with style”.

Going on, let us talk about something that isn't taken that seriously. HASHTAGS. They play a vital role in pulling the right audiences towards you.

Identify your post or content effectively and allocate the right hashtags to them and I assure you that your popularity will increase.

Since we’re talking about popularity, let us talk about how important it is to be able to advertise or market your product through an INFLUENCER or a known person.

Once you have established your company on ground bases its time to step it up a little. Reach out to your contacts but DO NOT SOUND DESPERATE. Create a win-win situation for the person or group. It is important to ensure that they are also on the receiving end and gain benefit from your proposal. That's what business is all about!

Next comes another important aspect. Something I give high priority to. INTERACTIONS & ENGAGEMENTS. I feel it is important to be able to communicate with people and understand them. A business and its consumers should create the feel of a large joint family.

Large multinational businesses ensure that they communicate with their consumers and gain feedback from them. It makes them feel important and in turn, increases the brand loyalty they have towards your company.

Let us take Adidas for instance, a few years ago they came up with an interactive campaign where they encouraged their consumers to design their outfit out of which top 3 would be produced and sold. Millions of people participated in this and it was a huge success. It helped create a bond between the consumers and the brand and that's what you should aim at doing as well.

STAYING UP TO DATE is absolutely a need! You don't want to go around selling typewriters now, do you? Stay up to date with your surroundings. They change EVERY. DAY. What may be in trend today may end up becoming “that was so last month ago”.

You don't want that. You need to constantly keep your consumers engaged. It is what will help your business grow at a rapid rate.

Keep weekly or monthly GOALS and make sure you reach them. However, keep in mind that you're being REALISTIC. Don't unnecessarily set unrealistic goals and would end up demotivating you one week down the line. You don't need that type of negativity.

Push yourself and your company but not to an unrealistic and straining extent. Always keep this in the back of your mind when formulating a marketing strategy.

Lastly, BE UNIQUE. No one just goes for an ordinary product or service. It is important to have a USP (Unique Selling Product) that would help catch the eyes of your fellow targets. Work up that creative mind of yours and spice up your products a little!

Bonus tip for start-ups - Marketing involves a lot of aspects and can require heavy funding for some of these aspects. FOCUS ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

It is one thing that if handled effectively can help reach out to the 7 billion population out there. Be super creative with your content and be consistent. Most importantly, DO NOT GIVE UP. Once you have achieved this you can then move on towards adding other capital-funded marketing strategies that would help your businesses grow even more.

This, my friend, is nothing ordinary. It requires another level of dedication and hard work. Success doesn't come walking up to you. You have to climb that mountain on your own. All those of you that have read this here till the end have that fire and talent within you. With the right mindset, you will be able to sore the skies.

Keep grinding, stay put to your goals, and best of luck!
